Starting Aldo you will see the Main Menu of Aldo.

First of all you have to setup aldo for you PC
So select 5.
Now you can see Setup Menu

Now you have to create configuration file
~/.aldorc.
So select 6.

It's important to setup your soundcard.
So select 1, this choice gives 3 questions:

Under Gnu\Linux the soundcard devicefile is /dev/dsp.
Under FreeBSD the soundcard devicefile is /dev/audio.

By default settings:

2) sample rate 8000
3) sample size 8

1) Pause before start to keying default[2]
2) Pause between two letters in a word default [3]
3) Pause between two words default[7]
4) Keying speed in wpm
5) Dot lenght default 1 
6) Line lenght default 3
7) Tone of keyer in Hz default 900Hz

Selecting 3 you can setup training with Classic exercise:
1) Lenght of words for this exercise default 5
2) Number of words for this exercise default 3
3) Training charset for this exercise default 1

Selecting 4 you can setup training wiht Koch method:
1) Keying speed to start for koch method.

Selecting 5 you can setup Callsign exercise:
Here you can put you prefer callsing format.
For example:

iz8@@@ is a format for callsigns like iz8bqi iz8eqd iz8tpz etc..

iz#m@@ gives iz0muv iz9mer iz8mrd etc..

iz#@@@ gives iz2qwe iz1ert etc..

i?8@@@ gives i8mro iz8eqd it8aa ih8epz etc..

i?#@@@ gives imro izqvo iz8mrt etc..

Legend:

@ = Is a random letter
# = Is a random number
? = Is an optional letter
$ = Is an optional number

NOTE: Callsigns format must be in lowercase no IZ#M@@ but iz#m@@
A fixed letter or a fixed number as "i" or "8" in examples
remain as is in callsign...

Selecting 1 you can start to training your self with Classic Method
Selecting 2 you can start to training yourself with Koch Method
Selecting 3 you can read a text file from disk and keying it with aldo
Selecting 4 you can start to training yourself on random callsigns

Now listen to your speakers.
Guess morse chars and write these on sheet.

After the exercise you must insert chars guessed 
so ALDO will verify your exercise.
